THE CHBA-CI/TRU TRAINING HOUSE GOES SOLAR!
This year, the CHBA-CI/TRU Training house goes Solar! As a GOLD Sponsor Riverside Energy Systems is thrilled to participate in the construction of the CHBA-CI/TRU Training House as the Solar Energy sponsor and will be donating 4KW of a 6KW system capable of supplying 73% of the home’s electrical needs.
The Training House offers a unique opportunity that benefits CHBA TRU and the entire community. TRU's building trades students are directly engaged in the construction of the Training House, taking the knowledge gained in the classroom and learning to apply it in the real world.
Riverside Energy is also very proud of their education and training partnership with TRU which provides curriculum development support and on-site instruction to TRU Trades students in the design and installation of Solar PV systems.

Riverside applauds the CHBA-CI team for taking on the ambitious goal of a BC Energy Code – Step 5 rating for the training house. The BC Energy Step Code is a voluntary code designed to improve energy efficiency, lower energy bills and provide healthier and more comfortable homes compared to homes and buildings designed under the requirements of the BC Building Code. Step 5 for homes represents a home that is net-zero energy ready, meaning it produces as much energy as it uses.
The 2021 Training House is under construction and consists of 2 storeys and approximately 2800 sq. ft. total floor area. The house style is contemporary craftsman and positioned well to profile new products and systems to the general public and new home purchasers. Riverside intends to include video updates as the solar installation progresses and seminars for those interested in the mystique of Solar. Stay tuned!
