With their commitment to smart living spaces, it only made sense that Edgecombe Builders Group contracted with Riverside Energy Systems to design and install a 50 kW system with 126 x 400W modules on a new 6-storey multi-family building in downtown Kelowna. “We started out planning to do a rough-in only in preparation for a future solar energy system. Once the investors did the calculations and understood the savings that would be achieved by adding solar energy it only made sense to go ahead and install the maximum system to offset operating costs in the common areas. The technology has come so far, can be added to buildings large and small and the ease of integration made the installation seamless. There are long term costs savings and the pay offs and gains start right up front”, says Brian Bolding, Project Manager.
Edgecombe Builders chose Riverside Energy Systems due to their high level of engineering and technical expertise combined with their long history and standing in the solar industry. Brian explained, “the entire experience was trouble free from start to finish. The engineering expertise flowed right thru the project and the communication on all aspects was incredible. Any misconceptions I might have had about the use of solar energy on large projects was completely dispelled by this experience”.
Riverside Energy Systems Solar expert, Director Ben Giudici works tirelessly educating industry partners on the more technical aspects of design and installations. “We are very focussed on providing early input on design engineering and strive to bring the project consultants together early on in the project design stage. This isn’t the first time the Edgecombe Group and Riverside Energy have teamed up. As part of their ‘Giving Back’ corporate cultures, Edgecombe and Riverside assisted in the development of Unako House, an International Women’s Education Network Centre in Nepal. Riverside designed and helped install an off-grid solar power system for the Centre which works to free young women from bonded labor, re-unite them with their families, and provide life changing educational opportunities.
